As a 6-year facebooker, I’ve been waiting for the dislike button to arrive for a long time. I mean the like button is great, but sometimes it’s just not the capturing the right sentiment. There are actually a few buttons I’ve been waiting for… the dislike button and the slap button. Come on – poking is boring. But don’t get too excited. The most recent scam invites you to be among the first Facebook users to install a limited edition Dislike Button.
But don’t click on that install link just yet. This is just another survey scam. Like all good scams, users who click the link are asked to like the application and then endorse it to all your friends. Hmmm… sounds familiar. And instead of receiving the download, users are taken to a screen that asks them to complete a short survey to make sure it’s not spam.
If your excitement got the better of you and you fell for this too good to be true scam, you’re now inadvertently spamming your friends. Clean up the posts from you wall by removing them using the X in the top right corner. Remember, never complete these surveys as they can easily install malware on your computer or steal your personal information.
Until Facebook comes out with more buttons, I guess we’ll have to go back to using the comments field to share our feelings other than ‘like’ and ‘poke’. Happy networking!
