In the wake of recent security breaches Sony, Epsilon and Google have gone before congress to request a federal data breach law:
- Corporate compliance has been difficult for many large comapnies as laws vary greatly across state borders
- Epsilon & Sony asked for uniformity in breach notification laws and requested a federal law to trump individual state laws
- “We look forward to a national initiative that protects consumers.” – Tim Schaaff, president of Sony Network Entertainment International
