Who doesn’t love a mustache? Ok, maybe most of us. But if you need a reason to fall in love with facial hair, this month marks a great reason: Movember.
For those of you unfamiliar with the cause, Movember is when men across the globe grow mustaches for 30 days to raise awareness and money for men’s health issues. The rules are simple. Start the month of November clean-shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month. The moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for prostate cancer.
Faronics Furry Lips team is formed by Mo Brothers and Mo Sistas that are raising donations from co-worders, clients, family, and friends. All contributions are donated to Prostate Cancer Canada that uses the Movember funds for the development of programs related to awareness, public education, advocacy, and support of those affected. This also goes towards the research into the prevention, detection, treatment, and cure of prostate cancer.
It won’t be easy for our team of mustache supporters. Here are just some of the challenges they will endure:
1. Family conflicts. Many spouses or girlfriends are not happy with the facial growth
2. Friends and coworkers smirking and making fun of the slowly growing “stash” (me included)
3. Strangers rolling eyes at yet another “stashed” man they see on the street
4. The unfamiliarity of what they now look like
