Facebook Adds Student Groups

Facebook has announced the newest addition to it’s website – Student Groups. Students register on their college or university page, where they can share notes, arrange study groups, post photos, etc. Students who are registered with their schools page can communicate with people even if they are not Facebook friends.

Student’s must have an active “.edu” e-mail address – once students are no longer a part of the school, their email addresses are deactivated.

Facebook is denying speculations that this new feature is an attempt at developing a learning management system (LMS). They claim to have no interest in making themselves a part of the education system, and that they simply want to help students communicate.
