Faronics Press Room

SAN RAMON, CA, April 28, 2008 — Just in time for Interop Las Vegas 2008’s Energy Camp, Faronics is happy to announce the much-awaited release of Power Save 2.0! This latest release of Faronics’ non-disruptive computer energy management software now introduces Windows Vista support, a new enterprise console, and enhanced reporting capabilities. As a show exhibitor and participant of the conference dedicated to the reduction of information technology’s global carbon footprint, announcing Power Save 2.0 at Energy Camp is a natural fit. Interop takes place at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, April 28–May 2, 2008.

Power Save makes computer energy management that is non-disruptive to IT and end-users a reality. It provides tangible financial savings to organizations by reducing computer power consumption, and proves its rapid return-on-investment through enterprise-wide tracking and reporting. By strengthening IT control over network systems while promoting user productivity at all times, Power Save enables IT to achieve feasible environmental responsibility that is easy to deploy and manage, and is the only computer energy management solution that analyzes CPU, disk, keyboard, mouse, and application activity before taking
power management actions. On average, Power Save provides organizations with a savings of $25 per computer, per year, for every computer deployed.

Power Save 2.0 is the first Faronics product to be controlled on an enterprise-level by the newly released Faronics Core Console. Core Console’s MMC3 platform has enabled numerous improvements to take place in Power Save, including enhanced reporting capabilities powered by SQL Express, advanced Wake-On-LAN support, the ability to run on 64-bit computer systems, and a standardized Microsoft User Interface that IT administrators are already familiar with.

“We’re excited that Faronics is offering solutions to climate change with Power Save at Interop’s Energy Camp,” said Lenny Heymann, General Manager for Interop. “Interop is happy to have companies such as Faronics take an active role in Energy Camp, where IT professionals and solution providers are coming together to make green IT happen.”

A free, fully functional 30 day evaluation version of Power Save can be downloaded from www.faronics.com for both Windows and Mac computers. Power Save users with a valid maintenance package can download this latest version from Faronics Labs, Faronics’ customer care portal.
