VANCOUVER, B.C. and PLEASANTON, Calif., March 19, 2015 – Faronics, a leader in computer security and simplifying computer management, announced today it has received three commendations from prominent testing organizations: Virus Bulletin, a security testing and certification body; Passmark Software, an authority in software and hardware performance benchmarking and testing; and AV-Comparatives, an independent organization that tests and assesses anti-virus software.
Winner of VB100 Award
Virus Bulletin named Faronics’ Anti-Virus Software the winner of the prestigious VB100 award. This awards program celebrates products which meet the standards required to be recognized as legitimate and properly functioning anti-malware solutions. VB100 certified products must prove the capability to detect 100 percent of the viruses in the wild, without raising false alarms.
Faronics’ Anti-Virus software includes comprehensive protection that combines anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-rootkit, firewall and web filtering capabilities in a single, centrally managed solution. The product leverages a multi-layered security approach to detect threats on a protected system, and can guard against new threats via real-time malware behavior analysis. Faronics Anti-Virus can also be integrated with Faronics’ reboot-to-restore solution Deep Freeze to allow for protection and file updates on “frozen” workstations without losing them on every restart.
PassMark Performance Benchmark: Ranked No. 1
In its latest report by PassMark, Faronics’ Anti-Virus was ranked first in its class. PassMark utilized several performance metrics for its rankings, including installation time and size, boot time, CPU and memory usage, schedule scan time and network throughput. Overall, Faronics’ Anti-Virus achieved the leading score of 62, with the closest runner up receiving a score of 55.The PassMark comparison found that Faronics’ Anti-Virus boots up in half the time it took Kaspersky ES10 and requires only one-fifth of space for installation as Kaspersky ES10. Faronics’ Anti-Virus was also able to be installed nine times faster than McAfee’s CEP, deploying in only 114 seconds as compared to CEP’s 1,043.31 seconds.
AV-Comparatives Approved Security Product Certification
Faronics Anti-Virus has also been awarded the Approved Security Product Certification by AV-Comparatives, which provides an official, globally recognized seal of approval for software performance. In order to achieve this award, Faronics Anti-Virus was put through rigorous tests to evaluate and prove its protection capabilities in “real-world” scenarios.
“We’re thrilled to have received multiple recognitions for our Anti-Virus Software. These successes underscore our customers’ability to rest assured knowing that Faronics’ Anti-Virus Software detects 100% of malware samples listed as ‘In the Wild’ by the WildList Organization, without generating false positives when scanning an extensive test set of clean samples,” said Heman Mehta, Product Management leader at Faronics. “It’s an honor to receive such high commendations from the industry experts at Virus Bulletin, PassMark and AV-Comparatives.”
