Ohio has been hit by numerous data breaches:
- Mainly NorthEast Ohio banks and credit unions affected
- Banks hit: Keybank, Dollar Bank, Fifth Third, PNC Huntington, Charter One, Ohio Savings and FirstMerit
- Credit unions hit: Century Federal Credit Union, Ohio First Class Credit Union (formely Postal Employees Credit Union) Firefighters Credit Union, PSE Credit Union, Best Reward Credit Union
- Likely cause of breach is CVV2 card and security codes
- Members’ debit card details were used for online/over the phone purchases
- Breach also suspected to be connected with a targeted phishing scam
