Faronics Corporation (“Faronics”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy and wants you to feel secure when visiting our website (the “Website”) and using our products. This Privacy Policy sets out our policies concerning the collection, use, and disclosure of personal identifiable information (“PII”) we receive from your use of the Website or the Products..

All personal information held or collected by Faronics is protected by either the Federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”) or the British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act (the “PIPA”). “Personal information” means all information about an identifiable individual.

Faronics may update this Privacy Policy from time to time without notice to you, therefore it is your responsibility to periodically review this Policy for the most current version. If this Privacy Policy is updated, your continued use of this product or the Services and any subsequent submission of personal information by you will be deemed your conclusive acceptance of the most recent version of this Privacy

Collection of Personal Information

Faronics Insight is an On Premise product. Generally, we do not collect any PII from you when you download our Android or iOS applications. To be specific, we do not require the consumers to get registered before downloading the application, nor do we keep track of the consumers’ usage of our application. Faronics Insight Student is meant to be used on school premises. This application temporarily collects user name and other device information like IP address, Device Model, device type (Phone or Tablet or Chromebook) and shares it with the Faronics Teacher Console which is another Desktop application running in your premises. This data is not uploaded to any WebServer.

The only situation we may get access to your PII is when you personally decide to email us your feedback or to file a bug report. The PII we may get from you in that situation like your name, email address and your survey response will only be used for contacting you and improving our services. We will never use such information (e.g. your name and email address) for any other purposes, such as to further market our products, or to disclose your personal information to a third party for commercial gains.

Faronics Insight Student for Android

The specific permission “android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO” is required to allow audio communication between students and authorized teachers.
The specific permission “android.permission.SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW” is required to allow authorized teachers to view / monitor the student’s screen.
All other permissions are specifically used for the functionality of the app and not to collect or store/send any PII data.

Faronics Insight Student for iOS

The «Microphone Usage» permission is required to allow audio communication between students and authorized teachers.
The «Local Area Network» permission is required to allow communication between authorized Teachers and this Student App over Local Area Network authorized teachers.
The «Camera Usage» permission is necessary for WebRTC video screen sharing with Teacher over Local Area Network.

Accountability and Responsibility

Faronics is accountable for the protection of all personal information under our control. The responsibility of ensuring compliance with policies and practices set forth in this Privacy Policy has been assigned to a “Privacy Officer”.
