King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) is a leading technology university in Thailand. There are two campuses located in the north of Bangkok and in Prachinburi Province. The Faculty of Information Technology operates on over 185 PCs and approximately 20 servers in an all Windows environment. The faculty did not have an existing centralized PC power management plan, so all computers were shut down manually at the users’ discretion.
KMUTNB deployed Power Save on their workstations. With the help of Power Save’s Power Plans, they can customize different levels of energy management for specific days of the week, and for different times of the day. The faculty has opted for a plan that turns of monitors after 15 minutes of inactivity, while standby PCs are turned off within 30 minutes of inactivity. The university is now saving approximately 5,000 U$ a year and over 42,000 Kwh per year.
