Security: A business imperative
From company secrets to customers lists; employee records to corporate espionage; in today’s information-driven economy, data has become the lifeblood of your organization.
Protecting this data is a business imperative, but with 60,000 new malware threats emerging every day, the traditional anti-virus only approach isn’t enough.
Enter Layered Security

Traditional anti-virus programs work by blocking known threats – but stopping known bad guys means they have to get caught first. To stop unknown threats, we flip the paradigm: instead of just blocking known malicious programs, we stop all unapproved programs from running.
That’s why we pair our powerful Anti-Virus with Anti-Executable, a whitelisting application. A whitelist is a list of applications that are authorized to launch on a computer. If a program isn’t on the list, it will not run. This has the added benefit of not only blocking malicious software, but also unauthorized, system-heavy or just plain unnecessary programs from running.
Finally, the ultimate layer of security: full system restoration. It is often easier to simply wipe and restore a computer to its original configuration than to try and diagnose highly specific misconfiguration. However, this is a time consuming process, which may put a machine out of commission for hours to days depending on your IT team’s bandwidth.
That’s where Faronics’ patented Deep Freeze reboot to restore technology comes in. Deep Freeze restores a computer to a set configuration on every reboot. Any changes or problems that result from malicious software, misconfiguration or just plain old user error are undone when the computer is restarted.
One Solution: Multiple Implementation Options
Every business is different, and has different needs and requirements from its information technology. Even within the same company, different users have different requirements of their machines and different levels of permission to access certain resources.
Faronics understands this, which is why our Layered Security solutions are designed for different environments.
Layered Security in flexible environments:
In most environments, there are users who need both security protection and the flexibility to change their system’s configuration, retain specific settings, etc. More senior employees are frequently more trusted to administrate more of their own computers, and IT must provide solutions that allow that.
The Faronics Layered Security Bundle combines our Anti-Virus software with Anti-Executable. The powerful duo can be deployed across all your machines and then centrally managed from the Faronics Core, the Faronics central management platform.
Layered Security in static environments:
The Faronics Total Layered Security Bundle adds Deep Freeze to Anti-Virus and Anti-Executable for rock-solid protection of your workstation configurations. If any security threats manage to get past the first two layers of security, they run into the brick wall of Deep Freeze that restores the computers IT-specified configuration on every restart. This also removes users changes – intentional or not, giving IT complete control over how the machines they administer. User files are redirected to a protection part of the drive where they are retained.
