SAN RAMON, CA, December 12, 2006 — Macworld magazine announced today that Faronics Deep Freeze Mac has won a 2006 Editors’ Choice Award. The Eddy awards, as they are affectionately known, honor products that are useful and innovative while offering the best in terms of both quality and value. Other 2006 winners include products from Google, Apple, and Adobe.
According to Macworld editor Rob Griffiths, “If you’ve ever tested bad software, downloaded a file you shouldn’t have, or mucked about in Terminal with unpleasant results, or if you manage a bunch of Macs whose users do all that and more, you’ve probably wished you had a magic Undo command that could reverse the damage. That’s exactly what Faronics’ Deep Freeze Mac does.”
In the June 2006 issue of Macworld, Deep Freeze Mac was awarded four-and-a-half mice out of a possible five. Since its review, Deep Freeze Mac has been updated to version 3.2 including new features such as user-based and global ThawSpaces (storage containers where changes and data can be permanently retained), automatic Apple Software Update scheduling, an option to manage an enterprise-wide Deep Freeze deployment in the LANDesk Management Suite via a LANDesk plugin, and much more.
Deep Freeze provides a completely non-restrictive working environment where there is no need to be concerned about system misconfiguration, or malicious damage to a system; a simple restart eradicates all changes and restores the machine to its original pristine state. The standard system configuration is available at all times and IT maintenance is dramatically reduced. Editions for Windows and Windows servers are also available with a Linux edition coming soon.
