Deep Freeze Integration
Faronics recognizes that our customers use Deep Freeze in many diverse situations and manage their computing environments with an array of tools, which is why we’ve made things easier by providing several ways to manage Deep Freeze deployments in any enterprise setting. Apple Remote Desktop
Apple Remote Desktop allows you to manage all of your Mac computers over your network. Distribute software, provide real-time online help to end users, create detailed software and hardware reports, and automate routine management tasks - all from the comfort your desk.
Our Deep Freeze Assistant can install tasks for use with Apple Remote Desktop. They appear in their own Deep Freeze folder on the ARD sidebar.
These tasks can be used as supplied or as a starting point for controlling Deep Freeze with ARD. Each task mirrors a Deep Freeze Controller command, although you can also remotely request the Deep Freeze status from any Mac via ARD.
To use the tasks, they must be edited to add site-specific information, eg. usernames and passwords. For ARD to perform the tasks, the target computer(s) for the task must be specified, the target computer(s) must have Deep Freeze installed and a user on the target computer must be specified to run the command.
To target computers with a particular ARD task, select the desired task and drag the preferred workstations or group of workstations into the lower portion of the task window. The number of computers assigned to a specific task appears at the bottom of the window As with deploying the Deep Freeze Mac installer package, any Deep Freeze task can be scheduled through ARD for automated execution.

Command Line Control (DFC)
The Deep Freeze Command Line Control (DFC) offers network administrators increased flexibility in managing Deep Freeze workstations. DFC works in combination with third-party enterprise management tools and/or central management solutions. This combination allows administrators to update workstations on demand.
It is important to note that DFC is not a stand-alone application. DFC integrates seamlessly with any solution that can run script files, including standard run-once login scripts.
Some of DFC’s commands include:
- Restart workstation in a Frozen/Thawed state
- Set workstation to restart Frozen/Thawed the next time it restarts
- Query workstation Deep Freeze state
- Enable/Disable the workstation keyboard and mouse

LANDesk Plug-in
LANDesk Management Suite is a desktop management system that lets IT staff automate systems and security management tasks from a single console. Administrators can proactively manage, update, and protect all desktops, servers, and mobile devices.
The Deep Freeze Plug-In gives administrators the ability to activate scheduled tasks, manage computers with multi-level user defined groups, and improve process updates while preserving and protecting the productivity of PC and Mac workstations. The partnering between Deep Freeze and LANDesk provides administrators with an efficient and central way to manage Deep Freeze tasks from within the LANDesk Console.
The Deep Freeze Plug-in to LANDesk provides the following benefits:
- Easier management of mixed environments (Windows / Mac)
- Multiple computer management from a single console
- Scheduling of Deep Freeze tasks such as Freeze, Thaw, and Update

Deep Freeze integration with ZENWorks provides the following benefits:
- Install and upgrade the Deep Freeze Configuration Administrator
- Install and Uninstall Deep Freeze Workstation files and Seeds
- Install and use Deep Freeze Command Line Control (DFC) to manage workstations (creating Freeze and Thaw objects)
Faronics is currently developing a Deep Freeze Snap-in for Novell ZENWorks 7. Scheduled for release in the fall of 2007, our snap-in will allow administrators to control Deep Freeze machines directly from ConsoleOne. To learn more about this snap-in please contact us.

Symantec Ghost
Imaging workstations has become one of the quickest ways to deploy standard software to multiple computers. Deep Freeze can easily be managed from the Symantec Ghost Console through the use of the Deep Freeze Command Line Control (DFC).
Deep Freeze can be deployed using Symantec Ghost in the following two ways:
- Creating a Master image with Deep Freeze installed
- Creating a Master image with a Deep Freeze Seed installed
